The final of the Clausura of the Mendoza Soccer League between Godoy Cruz and Independiente Rivadavia was suspended minutes before starting. Finally, it will be played this Sunday.

Last weekend an unusual event occurred in the Mendocina Women's Soccer League: the final of the Clausura Tournament, in which Godoy Cruz and Independiente Rivadavia were going to face each other, was suspended when the players were about to take the field. Finally, it was rescheduled for this Sunday at 5 p.m.

What happened? The match was going to be played at the Club Deportivo Maipú Stadium, which according to the Mendoza League gave the property away for free. The thing is that while the players were warming up and preparing to play the match, the crowd began to arrive in large numbers - tickets were sold for both matches. So far so good.

However, as FutFemGol was able to find out through dialogue with different fans who were present, members of the Independiente bar also arrived at the stadium, which began to put the organizers of the event on alert since the security operation was not prepared for so many supporters. Despite that, tickets continued to be sold.

Minutes before the match began, when the players were about to go out onto the field to play and the majority of the public was already inside, the Mendoza League decided to suspend the match because they could not guarantee security within the event.

After what happened, the Mendoza Soccer League issued a statement clarifying that Omar Sperdutti, its president, had no interference in the decision-making the day the final was suspended and in which it was also highlighted that the entire organization was in charge of Giuliana Díaz, president of the women's soccer department.

Hours later, she repudiated the statement in an interview with the Partido Liquidado program, on Radio Post. "It seems irresponsible and even tragicomic to me that the president puts all the blame on me. In his statements he stated that I made a very intelligent decision and then in the statement he let go of my hand," Díaz said, revealing the differences with the president.

For her part, one of the soccer players told this medium that "they throw away the work of an entire year of the players" and added: "They did not allow us to experience a final as the women's team deserves, perhaps they do not measure the number of people who support us and follow us. We would have to consult them, because it reflects the lack of support as an institution to carry out a final as the province deserves."

Finally, the rescheduling of the match happened this Sunday, December 28, starting at 5:00 p.m., at the Gutiérrez Sport Club Stadium.
