On one side is the Brazilian team, current two-time champion that will seek to win the South American title for the third consecutive time while on the other is the Colombian team, which will go for its first Conmebol Libertadores.
Corinthians reached the grand final after leaving Ferroviaria on the road. After equalizing 1-1 in regular time with a goal from Mariza, the current champions won 6-5 from the penalty spot in an electrifying finish.
For its part, Deportivo Cali also achieved the pass from the 12 steps, although there were no goals in their semi-final match against Colo-Colo, one of those who had become a candidate for the title over the course of the competition.
How do the teams reach the final of the Conmebol Libertadores 2025?
Corinthians started their participation with a draw against Independiente del Valle and finished the group stage as the leader with 13 goals in three games. In the quarterfinals defeated Boca 4 to 0 at the Nuevo Francisco Urbano and in the semis they met their compatriots, whom they eliminated on penalties. If it is consecrated, this will be the sixth Copa Libertadores that Corinthians keeps in its showcase along with those from the 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024 editions.
For its part, Cali finished its participation in group D being the undefeated team. On the first date they tied with Libertad from Paraguay and then beat Nacional and Universidad de Chile, thus becoming the only team in the group that did not lose a game.
In the quarterfinals they had to face São Paulo, whom they defeated 2-0, and finally beat Colo-Colo, a team that had won all three matches in the group stage and had been one of the candidates to lift the cup.
Thus, Deportivo Cali is the fifth Colombian team to compete in a Conmebol Libertadores final, along with Formas Íntimas, América de Cali, Independiente de Santa Fe and Atlético Huila, which was the only club from the coffee-growing country to lift the trophy.
