After beating Newell's in the final, Belgrano won the Argentine spot and will play in the next Libertadores.
Belgrano won the eyes of all women's football in Argentina throughout the year and closed it with a flourish. Alberdi's team became champion of the Clausura 2025 tournament days ago, after beating Racing in the final, and this weekend defeated Newell's in San Nicolás, for Argentina's place to compete in the next Conmebol Libertadores.
After a goalless draw in the 90 minutes, the teams defined the Champions Trophy from the penalty spot. Agustina Sánchez, the Uruguayan goalkeeper of the Pirata team, once again excelled in her specialty and saved two of the four penalties that Lepra kicked, in addition to kicking and converting the last one that gave Belgrano the two-time championship.
With more than 2,500 fans cheering them on from the stands, Belgrano became the first team from the interior of the country to qualify for the Libertadores, and will be the one to represent Argentina in the intercontinental club competition.
