Por Redacción FutFemGolJuly 3, 2026

As on all dates, FutFemGol this time chose the most attractive duels of the twelfth day of an Apertura Tournament that does not slow down.

We are increasingly entering the final stretch of the championship, and both Racing and San Lorenzo share the top of the 2026 Women's Apertura Tournament. With River and Talleres as the main supporters, date 12 arrives with a series of decisive duels and unmissable crosses.

Racing will host Huracán at its venue and San Lorenzo will be home at the 12 de Agosto stadium (of S.A.T.) against Independiente. Talleres and Unión will measure their strength in Córdoba, while River will visit Gimnasia in La Plata. Among other notable duels, Boca will meet again with Lanús after three years.

In this context, FutFemGol chose the three most attractive matches on date 12 of the 2026 Women's Apertura Tournament and prepares you for similar confrontations with the most relevant data.

River wants to return to its path in the Women's Apertura Tournament, but Gimnasia sells the defeat dearly

Date 12 will offer a duel with a lot at stake in La Plata. On Saturday, from 12:00, Gimnasia will host River in El Bosquecito with the intention of remaining engaged in the fight for the top spots. Las Millonarias occupy third place with 23 points and need to stay close to Racing and San Lorenzo, while La Manada is sixth with 16 points and will seek to return to victory against another of the candidates for the title.

River arrives with renewed spirit after beating Newell's 1-0 thanks to Kimberlyn Campos' goal. Núñez's team regained its smile after a draw and two consecutive defeats. Gimnasia, for its part, tied 2-2 with Banfield in a changing match, where Gabriela Valdez Funes and Abigail Ponce scored for the Taladro, while Marilyn Esquivel and Eliana Stabile rescued a point for the Manada.

Beyond the difference in positions, Gimnasia's present also deserves attention. The team from La Plata only lost three games in the entire championship and they were precisely against Racing, San Lorenzo and Talleres: three of the main contenders for the title. This consistency explains why the Pack continues to be one of the most uncomfortable rivals in the Women's Apertura Tournament.

The record clearly favors River. Of nine matches played, the Millonarias won six, Gimnasia kept two and tied the remaining one, with a difference of 20 goals against 8. However, the last meeting between the two ended without emotions: it was 0-0 at the River Camp for the fourth date of the Second Tournament 2025.

It will be the first time that both teams face each other at the El Bosquecito Premises. Until now, Gimnasia had received River between the Juan Carmelo Zerillo Stadium and Estancia Chica, so the next duel will inaugurate a new stage for this history.

Among the soccer players to follow are Kimberlyn Campos, scorer of the goal of the last Millonario victory and the team's top scorer, as well as Aldana Barrionuevo who, although she continues to recover from an injury, will face her previous club. In Gimnasia, all eyes will be on Rocío Montenegro, with a past at River, and on Eliana Stabile, who has just scored a goal from midfield and assisted in the draw against Banfield -in addition to having a past at Boca-.

The revenge of the 2025 Champions Trophy, at a bad time for both: Newell's will receive Belgrano

On the same Saturday, but from 3:30 p.m., there will be another crossing with recent history: Newell's will receive Belgrano at the Jorge Griffa Premises to reissue the 2025 Champions Trophy, although this time in a completely different context. Lepra occupies 15th place with just five points, while the Pirates appear 10th with 13 points, very far from the fight for the championship that they had just a few months ago.

The two teams arrive in need of an urgent reaction. Newell's fell 1-0 against River and has accumulated eight defeats in its last nine games, a statistic that contrasts with the level it showed last season. Belgrano, meanwhile, drew 0-0 with Racing and is not going through a good present either: it has not won in four games, it has not scored goals for a month and a half and it has tied three consecutive draws without opening the scoring.

The record slightly favors Belgrano, which won two of the five matches between both teams. Newell's, for its part, achieved a victory and the other two games ended tied, with five goals for the Pirates and two for Leprosy. In addition, the last precedent was recorded as one of the most important definitions of 2025.

It was for the 2025 Champions Trophy, played on December 21, a match in which Newell's and Belgrano tied 0-0 during the 90 minutes and the title ended up being defined from the penalty spot. There, the Pirates were more effective and took the cup. As for the last precedent at the Jorge Griffa Premises, there was also a goalless draw for the first date of the Second 2025 Tournament.

Beyond the present, the match will pit the last two champions of the First Division against each other. Newell's won the 2025 Apertura Tournament and the Federal Cup, while Belgrano won the Clausura that same year before also winning the aforementioned Super Cup. However, both institutions are going through a very different campaign than expected.

Two of the party's proper names appear on the arch. Agustina Sánchez, from Belgrano, leads the championship with six undefeated goals in just eight matches played, while Érica Correa has already accumulated three clean sheets defending the three goals of Newell's. In a duel of adverse presents, defensive solidity can once again be decisive.

Mouth vs. Lanús: two old acquaintances who meet again after three years

On Sunday, from 3:30 p.m., Boca will host Lanús at Casa Amarilla in a match that will mark the reunion between both teams after almost three years. The Gladiadoras appear seventh with 15 points, along with Ferro, while the Garnet is 12th with 11 points, equaling the Huracán line. Both are experiencing an improvement in their results and will seek to continue that good moment.

Boca comes from a goalless draw against San Luis and extended its undefeated record to four games. Before that tie they had achieved two consecutive victories, a streak that allowed them to settle in the table. Lanús is also growing: it defeated S.A.T. 2-0, with goals from Amalia Peña and Brenda Varela and has gone three games without defeats, with two wins and a draw.

The background shows extensive mastery of Xeneize. Boca won the six matches played between both teams and scored 22 goals against just two for Lanús. The last match also ended with a resounding victory for the Gladiators, for the third date of the 2023 YPF League Cup, coincidentally in the same Valentín Alsina, when Boca won 3-0 as a visitor with goals from Agustina Arias, Julieta Cruz and Kishi Núñez. Since then, almost three years have passed without both clubs officially crossing paths again, so Sunday's meeting will mean a long-awaited reunion.

Among the protagonists is Julieta Martínez, who will once again face Lanús with the Boca shirt. On the other side will be Nazareth Dos Santos and Tiara Paz, both with a past in Xeneize. In addition, Amalia Peña arrives in tune after scoring on the last date and continues to be one of the main offensive references for Granate, while Kishi Núñez, her team's top scorer and scorer of a goal in the last game against Lanús, is still unable to return to the fields.
