While the South American Sub 17 is being played and the teams see how their most promising talents advance with the Argentine National Team to the Semifinal of the contest, the Women's Apertura Tournament continued with matchups to remember and unexpected results.

The fifth day began on Saturday, with the narrow victory of Independiente at the home of S.A.T. and the goalless draw between Gimnasia and Ferro. On Sunday morning Huracán and Racing also beat Unión and San Lorenzo 1-0, respectively, while San Luis surprised Belgrano 2-0 in Córdoba.

That afternoon Boca came back at the Florencio Sola and won 2-1 against Banfield, while Talleres beat Newell's 4-0 at home. On Monday River and Lanús closed the date in Ezeiza, where the Millonarias took the three points.

The Apertura Tournament has new leaders: River and Racing climbed to the top by beating Lanús and San Lorenzo

Banfield was the only team with an ideal score until this weekend, but its defeat against Boca changed the panorama. Gimnasia -which tied with Ferro-, River -the last to play on date 5-, San Lorenzo and Racing -who faced each other- followed closely.

In a metaphorical early final, Racing beat San Lorenzo by the slightest difference in the Tita Mattiussi. River did the same, mercilessly beating Lanús on their property. The triumphs had the signatures of two young prospects who are celebrating an unbeatable current status: Agostina Holzheier and Francisca Altgelt.

As incredible as it may seem, due to the spectacular performance he is displaying, Holzheier has only now scored his first goal of the Apertura Tournament. Racing knew how to hold on to the advantage and added its second win in a row against San Lorenzo. A day later, Altgelt unlocked a very close match against Lanús and ended up assisting Carolina Ceniza and Morena Lomba to score River's win.

But it didn't stop there. 'Pancha' reached his fifth pass-goal so far in the championship, assisting Ceniza for his debut in the nets. Also to Lomba, a youth who only had 2 goals in First Division - coincidentally a double in River Camp, same current scenario, but when he played in Platense, back in November 2024 -.

As it is, Racing and River climbed to the top of the table and are, along with Gimnasia, the only undefeated teams to date. In addition, they are the teams with the most goals and the fewest goals in the league, with more than 10 goals scored in goal difference. Two tough nuts await next day: the Academy will receive S.A.T. and the Millonarias postponed their visit to Boca.

First excitement, then surprise: Boca turned it around Banfield and Independiente won on their visit to S.A.T.

Banfield and S.A.T. They were the only two teams that played home in their main stadiums, Florencio Sola and 12 de Agosto. They did it to receive Boca and Independiente, starting the matches with pure emotion, but ending them with scenarios opposite to what was desired.

El Lencho and Moreno witnessed two notable gestures: while more than 1,200 fans saw the Banfield children's team put on an exhibition during halftime of the partial victory against Boca, S.A.T. He decorated Micaela Maturano for reaching 100 games for the club minutes before receiving Independiente.

The issue was that Banfield and S.A.T. They shared emotions, but also a pivotal moment that completely changed the tone of their respective parties. The expulsions of Tatiana Sarmiento and María Dos Santos, both due to a double warning, caused Boca and Independiente to end up causing a surprise as visitors.

Boca came back from a great game that Valentina Barroso opened and, applying the Laws of the Exes, Lola Ruffini and Ana Ramírez, ended Banfield's undefeated record. For its part, Independiente ended up obtaining its first victory of the Apertura Tournament thanks to Ailén Sosa's goal, which broke a S.A.T. almost infallible when playing at home.

In this way, Banfield ended up losing three points that it seemed to have secured, fundamental for its race for the title, against none other than Boca, a direct rival in the dispute. In parallel, S.A.T. He regretted a result that was as unexpected as it was negative, against a rival who now dreams of reversing his sensitive present.

San Luis and Talleres were reunited with the victory against Belgrano and Newell's

Just as Independiente added its first victory in the Women's Apertura Tournament, San Luis and Talleres also had the same fortune. All of those mentioned did so as visitors, adding added value to such victories against very rigid rivals who, at least in the run-up, seemed very likely to complicate their plans.

San Luis struck the blow in Córdoba and decisively beat the current champion Belgrano. Nicolle Amaya, against them, put the Puntanas ahead, and Victoria Vázquez sealed the match with a real scissors goal. The Uruguayan former Liverpool player scored her second consecutive goal, her ninth in Argentine football.

Talleres, meanwhile, ended a worrying negative streak that took it away from the top positions. Despite having an extraordinary transfer market, running as a candidate for the title, it took 4 games to manage to add three points, and made just 2 scores. Of course, the match was unbalanced when Newell's was left with one less player due to the expulsion of Romina Luna.

Those led by Leandro Iglesias - absent against his last team, Newell's, due to suspension - retaliated and won 4-0. Catalina Primo scored the second official goal since her return to Talleres, while Pilar González extended the lead, ending a one-year streak without sacred shouts. She was assisted by the youth Azul Ludueña, who had not scored for a year either and who also ended up scoring a double to reach her seventh goal in the top category.

In this context, both teams reached 6 points and were reunited with victory. Coincidentally, San Luis and Talleres had not won since September of last year, for the Second 2025 Tournament. The last victory of both was by the smallest difference, and against the two teams from Rosario: the Matadoras against Central and the Puntanas against Newell's.
