The Apertura Tournament ended so few days ago that we are still saying goodbye to it, but it was time to welcome Clausura 2026. The second championship of the year began with several surprises and, for that reason, from FutFemGol we want to revive the little gems left by the first date.

At the start of the competition, Banfield visited Independiente and beat them 3-0 with a double from Antonella Estigarribia and another goal from Tatiana Sarmiento. Daiana Miño marked the triumph of S.A.T. against Belgrano in Córdoba, just as Sarah Mirr scored the minimum difference with which Ferro beat Talleres.
San Luis defeated Newell's thanks to Victoria Vázquez's hat-trick and the scores of Guillermina Dubra and Camila Mansilla, while San Lorenzo won the classic against Boca. Unión defeated Gimnasia and added its first victory in the highest category, and Huracán closed date 1 triumphing against River.

San Lorenzo agonizingly came back from the classic against Boca and won for the first time at Casa Amarilla
Without a doubt, the standout match in the debut of the Clausura Tournament was the classic between Boca and San Lorenzo. The two most winning teams of the professional era of Argentine women's football come from hard blows: while the Gladiadoras finished seventh and had the worst championship in their history, the Santitas rubbed shoulders with Racing until the last date of the Apertura but the title slipped from their hands due to an unexpected defeat against Lanús.

In this context, they measured their forces in Casa Amarilla, a scene in which the Ciclón had never taken the three points. To make matters worse for the visitors, Xeneize opened the scoring as soon as the match began thanks to Yuria Sasaki, who scored his eighth goal for the La Ribera club but had not scored since August of last year. His last goal had been in the 1-1 draw against Platense on date 3 of the Second Tournament 2025.
A few minutes later Emily Arias tied the classic, who joined the list of San Lorenzo's top scorers with 5 sacred shouts, equaling Delfina Pafundi, Débora Molina and Camila López. The Ecuadorian ex-América MG from Brazil had not scored since the victory by the minimum difference against River, during the ninth day of the Apertura Tournament. Boca tried to assert its home advantage, but Franco Bertera's team did not want to leave Pedro Pompilio empty-handed.
Such was the endurance of the Santitas that they agonizingly turned the game around, with a great goal from Delfina Pafundi. Entered from the bench, the forward with past in El Porvenir, Gimnasia and Huracán gave Ciclón its first victory at the home of Xeneize. It also cut the undefeated record of 8 games for those led by Florencia Quiñones, who started the Clausura on the wrong foot.

In this way, San Lorenzo refocused its search for another new title and Boca was sensitized after losing a classic that they started winning. Furthermore, the Gladiadoras were presented with a new concern: they lost 3 of the last 4 duels against the Santitas, tied the remaining one and lost the hegemony of this special rivalry for Argentine women's soccer.
Unión took the lead: it hit Gimnasia and added its first victory in the highest category
The Clausura Tournament began with an unpredictable surprise. In Santa Fe, the last in the table received the fifth place in the Apertura. Gimnasia, which always fights at the top of the Argentine league, visited Unión, the only team without victories so far this year. Spoiler alert: the Tatengas hit the ball of the day and added three points for the first time in the top category.
Those led by Paulo Poccia were promoted to First this season, after being champions of B last year. In the final they beat Lanús, who ended up being the second promoted to “A”, but already had experience in this category. To mention the teams from the middle of the table downwards, Newell's took 2 rounds to win, Independiente 5, Huracán 4 and Granate took until the sixth round.

Unión rounded off its debut championship in the top category with 3 draws and 12 losses, being the team with the most goals in the competition and the only team without victories in the 15 games played. But they turned the page quickly, turned history around and defeated La Manada with the fifth goal from Emilse Albornos and the debut in the Primera networks for Agustina Marani.
Albornos converted the first penalty in favor of Santa Fe all year, to extend her advantage as the team's top scorer. Marani sentenced Gimnasia and burst into tears because he knew he had marked an era: Unión left behind the three defeats with which the Apertura ended, beat a team like Silvana Villalobos's, which had lost only one of its last seven games, and started the Clausura with a smile that renewed his spirit.
Huracán surprised River with an agonizing victory to start the Clausura on the right foot
The date of surprises ended with another unexpected result: Huracán, which finished 13th in the Apertura and has to have an acceptable Clausura Tournament if it does not want to jeopardize its permanence, received River, the only team capable of running alongside Racing and San Lorenzo in a section of the race for the title of the last championship.
The match was rough, marked by the synthetic grass of one of the La Quemita fields. They played evenly and it was evident that the Millonarias had not yet found a replacement for Francisca Altgelt's hierarchy (already presented at Logroño United). In the agony of the match, Sofía Ramondegui headed a cross from a local free kick and scored, against it, the goal for the victory of the Quemeras.

River's only falls at the beginning of the season were against Boca and once against Platense on the first date of the 2023 YPF Championship. Huracán, for its part, won 4 of 12 debuts and took revenge for the 3-1 that the Band gave it when they debuted in the Apertura Tournament.
In addition, Nicolás Loncharich's team lost its fourth consecutive away game. For their part, those led by Juan Alonso added their fourth victory of the year, and took a vital step in the general table.
