Club Atlético Unión fulfilled its ultimate dream: to ascend to the highest category of women's football. We tell you how his path in the Tournament was.
After three years competing in AFA and climbing category after category, theClub Atlético Unión achieved what all teams long for: playing in the First Division.
With a very solid campaign, the Santa Fe team managed, in one section of the Tournament, to gain more than ten points of advantage over their second team. Of course, as the dates went by, it lost regularity in what was an extensive and demanding contest, however it never left first place.
The team led by Paulo Poccia started with a very good streak, winning seven games in a row. In their eighth match they lost to Camioneros as a visitor, but then they again chained another string of seven consecutive victories. Then, on matchday 16, they tied as a visitor at the San Miguel field, a team that was very strong at home.

In the next match the “ghost” of Tatengue this season reappeared: they lost again to Camioneros, the only team that managed to beat the champion in the entire tournament, both home and away. It was a particular match, with a 4-2 result in favor of the La Matanza team, also remembered for the several sanctions it left: a cross at the end that ended with several players sanctioned on each side.
On the following date, and the last of the regular tournament, Unión once again left points along the way, this time against El Porvenir in Gerli, and that was when the distance with its escort, Camioneros, was reduced.
However, and despite that irregular closing in which Unión faltered at the end of the tournament, adding only two points in its last three games, the Santa Fe team maintained the advantage obtained for much of the championship. Their perseverance, solidity and collective performance throughout the season allowed them to maintain the top and ensure their place in the grand final, where they ended up crowning an unforgettable campaign with the title and promotion to the highest category of Argentine women's football, the first in its history in women's football.
