Mercedes Diz, River Plate footballer, opened the scoring and went down in history as the scorer of the first Argentine goal in an Under 17 Women's World Cup, since it is the first time in history that the Argentine National Team has managed to qualify for this tournament.
There were only nine minutes into the first match of Group A when the Millonario player took advantage of an error - forced by the Albiceleste - in the rival defense and scored with her left foot to make history and put Argentina on top.
However, the European team equalized 24 minutes into the first half through Johanna Hebben. At the end of the first half, the team led by Christian Meloni suffered the expulsion of Oriana Brallo and had to face the rest of the match with ten players.
In the second half, the blow came quickly for the Albiceleste: after six minutes Kesler converted Germany's second goal and turned the result around. Despite the efforts of the National Team, the score did not change again and the national team began the World Cup with a 2-1 defeat.
Argentina will continue its participation in the tournament on Tuesday, October 20, when it faces New Zealand, starting at 12 (Argentine time), and will close the group stage against Morocco, on Friday, October 23, at 3:00 p.m.
