What happens if Uruguay beats Chile?
If Uruguay beats Chile, an electrifying final is put together, with the calculator in hand: Uruguay reaches 7 points, Chile stays with 6 points and then the match between Ecuador (4 pts, +1) and Argentina (9 pts) becomes decisive:
- If Ecuador beats Argentina there is tie on 7 points between Uruguay and the host that is resolved by goal difference since the match between the two ended in a tie.
- If Ecuador does not beat Argentina, it will be out of everything because Uruguay would surpass it in points.
