Argentina and Colombia will face each other this Monday for one of the semifinals of the Copa América 2025. We tell you everything about a duel that has history.
The Argentine National Team and Colombia will face each other this Monday from 9 p.m. (Argentina time) at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado Stadium, in Quito, for one of the semifinals of the Copa América Femenina 2025.
The Albiceleste arrives undefeated after leading Group A with a perfect score (12 points in four games), while the coffee makers qualified as second in Group B with 8 points, the result of two wins and two draws.
The crossing reissues the semifinal of the 2022 continental tournament,in which Colombia won 1-0 with a goal from Linda Caicedo and thus sealed its qualification for the final, where it would fall to Brazil.
Three years earlier, at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, both teams defined gold in a final that ended 1-1 in regulation time and was resolved by penalties in favor of the Colombian team (7-6). Throughout history, the biggest win in this duel was for Argentina, which won 6-0 in the 2006 South American Championship (later called Copa América), a tournament in which the Albiceleste also became champion.
The first confrontation between both teams dates back to April 25, 2003, at the Sudamericano in Lima. There, the Albiceleste won 3-2 with goals from Rosana Gómez, Karina Alvariza and Marisa Gerez, while Leidy Ordóñez and Sandra Valencia scored for Colombia. At that time, the tricolor team was directed by the historic Myriam Guerrero.
Now both teams will meet again, this time for the semi-final of the Copa América 2025, a competition in which Portanova's team seems to do better, due to its results in the group stage, although at a football level Colombia continues to be one of the strongest teams in the region.
The match will be at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium, in Quito, and will have the presence of the VAR, which will be used in the final phases of this competition.
