The Argentine National Team beat Ecuador, host of the Copa América 2025, and closed the group stage undefeated after 19 years.

With a great change in the starting 11,the Argentine National Team beat Ecuador in their last match of the group stage of the Copa América by 2-0. Adding these last three points, the Albiceleste managed to qualify undefeated for the semifinals of the continental competition and closed its participation in the group being the only team with 12 points and being five ahead of its first runner-up, Uruguay, which beat Chile and ranked second with 7 points.

With a substitute team, Argentina managed to impose its game on Ecuador from the first minute. The Tricolor needed to beat those led by Portanova if they wanted to be excited about qualifying for the next round. However, 18 minutes into the first half after a low cross from Paulina Gramaglia on the right wing, Kishi Núñez hit the ball as best he could and sent it to the back of Andrea Morán's net to open the scoring in favor of the Argentine team.

The teams went into halftime with the Rio de la Plata team ahead, since both Uruguay and Argentina were winning their respective games. At 57' Germán Portanova made the first changes with the departures of Catalina Roggerone and Carolina Troncoso, both of whom were cautioned, and the entry of Maricel Pereyra and Sofía Domínguez.

Later, at 67 minutes, Florencia Bon Segundo and Yamila Rodríguez entered the field of play, replacing Margarita Giménez and Kishi Núñez, both with blows to the head.

In the 69th minute of the match, a cross from the Argentine number 10, Maricel Pereyra, on the final line of the field left Bonse kicking without a mark in the area and, from the right, he scored the great goal that more than sealed Argentina's victory in the match against the host team of the Copa América. The last change was made in the 77th minute with the entry of Agostina Holzheier instead of Paulina Gramaglia.

This Friday at 9:00 p.m. (Argentina time) the teams in group B will close the initial phase, where Brazil will face Colombia, who today are in first and second place respectively; and Paraguay to Venezuela. The results of these matches will determine the rival between Argentina and Uruguay in the semifinals, depending on who finishes in the first two places in the group table.
