The Argentine National Team tied 1-1 with Peru at the Ciudad de Lanús Stadium on matchday 8 of the Nations League and qualified for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.

The only goal of the match for the Albiceleste was scored by none other than Mercedes Diz, the River player who, after qualifying for the World Cup with the Under 17s, made her debut with the Majors.

For her part, Cherrie Cox scored 1-1 with five minutes remaining. Furthermore, in the first half the Paraguayan referee Zulma Quiñónez expelled Catalina Roggerone, in Argentina, and Alesia García, in Peru.
The next match for the team led by Germán Portanova will be next Tuesday, at 8 p.m. (Argentina time) against Ecuador in Quito.
Another Women's World Cup for Argentina
With this classification, the Argentine National Team managed to seal its participation in the Women's World Cup for the fifth time in its history - third consecutive -, after being present in the World Cup in 2003, 2007, 2019 and 2023.
In addition, with this classification the three women's categories of the Argentine National Team will be present in the next World Cup events: the Sub 17, the Sub 20 and the Senior.
Regarding the qualification for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil, Colombia is the other National Team that secured its place, while it remains to define the two teams that will go to the playoffs, which will be the ones that finish in third and fourth position in the League of Nations, today occupied by Venezuela and Ecuador, respectively, with 11 units.
