The Argentine National Team debuted with a triumph against Paraguay in the Nations League and enjoyed their fans in La Paternal.
The Argentine National Team beat Paraguay 3-1 in its debut in the Nations League, at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, in a match in which Germán Portanova's team showed solidity and forcefulness. With goals from Cometti, Holzheier and Pereyra, the Albiceste started their path to the 2027 World Cup on the right foot.
Argentina showed its hierarchy from the beginning, controlling the pace of the match despite Paraguay's attempts to prevail in the first minutes. In the best moment of the Guaraní team, the Albiceleste opened the scoring at 17 minutes: after a corner taken by the historic “Zurda” Stabile, the captain Aldana Cometti connected with a header to make it 1-0.
A few minutes later, Florencia Bon Segundo made a great diagonal and, with an elegant heel, enabled Agostina Holzheier, who made a mark inside the area and finished with class to extend the lead in a stadium full of local fans.
At 46', after a bad start from the national team, Bogarín, the central defender of the Guaraní National Team, made a change of front and found Arrieta on the left wing: the Paraguayan player sent a cross past the feet of Barreto, who controlled with quality inside the area and defined with power, beating the Argentine goalkeeper.

In added time, after a good sequence of touches by the Albiceleste, a rebound favored Yamila Rodríguez, who finished in front of the goalkeeper. After the save, Maricel Pereyra appeared to capture the rebound and seal the final 3-1 for Argentina.
In addition, the local team managed the timing of the game with greater control of possession and defensive solidity. The Guaraní National Team tried to press in search of a discount, but an early expulsion conditioned their approach and took away their offensive weight. The Albiceleste took advantage of the spaces in the transitions and, with order and precision, neutralized the rival attempts.
In the final minutes, the Portanova team slowed down, managed the advantage and despite suffering the expulsion of Sofia Domínguez four minutes before the end of the game, secured a resounding victory to confidently begin their path in the Nations League towards the 2027 World Cup.
